Pros AirTunes, Print Server, and Router for $129
Cons Requires WDS for wireless to ethernet, no wired clients in router mode. Needs latest OS.
Recommended it? Yes

I just got my Airport Express (AX), for a seemingly high $119 (education price, $129 normally); but it's important to understand what the Airport Express can do.

So what can that little what box do?

- It can be a Wireless Access Point (including router)

- It can be an... Read full review »

I love music, I love my old 1981 Bang and Olufsen Beomaster 2400 stereo, and now I love MP3s, which have just begun outnumbering my CD's.

Unfortunately, the only way I could hear them would be over my computer speakers or by burning a CD. How cool would it be, I thought, if I could just... Read full review »

Cons Possible 2.4 GHz interference

First of all, let me say that I am impressed by the ease with which I was able to get this up and running. I have an Apple notebook running OSX 10.3.6 and this is the only computer to network (so far). I wanted the Airport Express in order to free up the notebook to move around the house and to... A little background
I've been running an AirPort Extreme Base Station in my house with two wireless laptops and a single desktop for about a year now. My iBook gets perfect signal anywhere in the place and even outdoors. But my PowerBook, that's a different story since they generally don't get... Read full review »

When I originally decided to invest in Apple's Powerbook G4, I knew that a key feature was its wireless capability. My wife and I have the need for a computer with fast Internet access that can be transported from one room to another and the Powerbook fit the bill. However, hitching the computer to... Elegant but difficult to use if you are boosting existing network

byiesosa Aug 19, 2004

Pros Elegant and a good idea
Cons Does not work well for boosting existing wireless networks

My main Airport wireless router is upstairs and I wanted to give the signal downstairs a bit of a boost so I placed the new Airport express downstairs and followed all the installation instructions. Nothing happened. I tried re-seting the express and still nothing. I called Apple support and they... Read full review »

I bought my Apple Airport Express today and so far I am impressed. It took me only seconds to install. Immediately upon plugging the little unit into the wall and plugging in my cable modem, I was getting a strong signal. This was easy. I didn't have to fiddle around with preferences or settings... Pros cool gaged for playing wireless music
Cons slightly difficult set-up

The Airport Express is a cool gaged which lets you play wireless music and also lets you print wireless even with a printer which is not set up for wireless use. Set up is a little bit difficult, but I made it work, so can you. Read full review »

Does what it claims, simply and elegantly

Pros Does what it claims. Play music through any device in the house, or the patio!
Cons Some difficulty configuring it with Win2000. It's supported but trickier to setup.
Recommended it? Yes

For the past year, I've been complaining about the options for getting music from my computer to my living room stereo. It's too far to run a cable, but all the wireless options had drawbacks. They either cost $300, or forced you to use their mediocre music management software, or required you to... Read full review »

JUNK! Poor documentation & software - doesn't seem like an Apple product.

bymfrog123 Dec 26, 2005

Pros If the features all worked, this would be a great tool
Cons Bad hardware, bad software, bad documentation. FLAKY!
Recommended it? No

I have a desktop mac (no wireless card), and bought this just to stream audio to my living room. The configuration software that comes with it *requires* that you have a wireless card. It will say "you don't have an airport card", and your only option is to quit. After lots of hunting around (and... Read full review »
