A Total Dud
Pros
Can't think of any. One doesn't buy a card like this for running Microsoft Word!
Cons
To use an engineering term, this product is "not fit for purpose".
Recommended it?
No
I was a fan, and frequent purchaser of Gigabyte products, until I bought this graphics card. Unfortunately, this product belongs squarely in the "what could they have been thinking?" department.
The card behaved fine running office applications and surfing the Internet, but as soon as I fired up a high-end game, it froze. Cranking up the 120 mm case fan to full speed got me a few minutes' play. Installing another 120 mm fan and running it flat out, made the card more or less stable. A clear straight-line relationship between case cooling and card performance.
But I had bought this card to have a silent computer, and here I was, with Hurricane Katrina howling through the case to keep the wretched thing cool.
Like I said - what could Gigabyte's engineers have been thinking. Passive cooling for such a complex GPU? My advice is to steer clear of this card and buy something with a built-in fan. I'm pretty sure that this card will be quietly withdrawn, and Gigabyte will sweep this sad fiasco of a product under the carpet.
