Solid Remote. Beats the typical "Universal" Works with TIVO

Pros Remote User friendly, Activity Based, Help Feature, Price point, Tivo Friendly,...
Cons Click Wheel, Internet Setup Software
Recommended it? Yes

I have previously owned several Harmony remotes (768 & 659). The 659 has been my fav for years. But I recently added a HD TIVO to my setup and the 659 does not work well with TIVO's. (Due to button placement) So went shopping for a new remote.

Considered:

The MX series - did not... Read full review »

Pros Ability to control A LOT of devices, and know when to turn them off/on.
Cons YOU NEED an internet connection (no workaround)!!! Price.
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this piece of equipment based on the good reviews given here on this webpage, and also because it promised to do all the things I have, for years, expected universal remotes to do. I have NOT been disappointed!

This control remote took my devices (one European projector, a Denon... Read full review »

Very light and rather easy to handle.

Pros Activity based, backlight, LCD, web based programming, lightweight
Cons the 4 aaa batteries don't last that long, especially during the initial programming...

Excellent remote.

It is moreover quite easy to program, thanks to a web interface and to the included USB cable. On the other hand, if your computer is not in the same room as your a/v system, it can be quite a pain to correctly setup the remote. You could use a laptop, as I did.

Pros Easily programmed and updated. Sturdy and easy enough to use for all family members.
Cons Mediocre battery life with rechargeable and alkaline batteries. Needs internet connection.
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased this remote roughly 2 years ago, when I realized that my wife and (4 year old) son had a lot of difficulty controlling our Audio-Video setup, which consisted of an LCD TV, Tivo, Surround Sound receiver, and DVD player. There were too many remotes and it was difficult to figure out which... Read full review »

We bought our Logitech Harmony 676 LCD Remote Control about 6 months ago. I'm not sure how much we paid, but it was new on eBay, and paid about 2/3 of retail price. My husband is a techno guy, he has to have the newest piece of electronic equipment that comes out. So we have soooo many pieces of... Read full review »

This remote does everything

bylogdog1 Apr 17, 2006

Pros Replaced 4 remotes and does everything I need. Highly customizable. Good feel.
Cons Hard learning curve. Poor documentation and slow customer support.
Recommended it? Yes

I use my Harmony to control my Philips TP3284 TV, Panasonic DMR-E85 DVR, Sony SLV-760 VCR, Pioneer VSX-5700 AV Receiver, and my Pioneer PD-M630 CD changer. I went from 4 remotes to 1. Initial set-up on the Harmony web site was very easy. However, figuring out how to customize the remote and get the... Read full review »

Dis-harmony early on

Pros Controls several different appliances
Cons Inconsistent operation of my television when I hit the "watch TV button"
Recommended it? No

I must preface this critique by stating that I have only had this remote for a week. Considering what I paid for it, I had the idea that this remote was going to hit a home run. Perhaps I will train the operator (myself) and become more satisfied, but so far I am disappointed. Update, 3/2/07: I... Read full review »

Controls everything BUT!!!!.....................

Pros Cool faceplates, "techie" looking, neat concept, nice software.
Cons Packaging misleading, technical support inept, still a $100 universal remote.
Recommended it? No

I purchased this remote because I finally got fed up with needing 4 remotes to turn my DVD player on. On the back of the package it clearly states in bold print, "Works with all systems". So I think to myself, "self, this is from Logitech and seems to have a bunch of awards printed on it, this must... Read full review »

the Harmony 676 is amazing

byharpitect Feb 11, 2006
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Almost limitless programming capability, making one-button control of multiple components...
Cons Programming can take a while, but the results are worth it.
Recommended it? Yes

Like most, probably, I got a Harmony remote because of the frustration of some family members when faced with remotes for a Philips TV, a Sony receiver, an LG HD tuner, a Panasonic VCR, plus connections for a Gamecube and an N64. The Harmony 676 was a remote that I had read almost totally positive... Read full review »

Pros Well built, defines "universal remote", plenty of features.
Cons Not for the easily frustrated, setup isn't painless, expensive.
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased this remote on the hopes that it would manage to bring some order to the chaotic mess that was my entertainment system. We have a DVR and a DVD jukebox plus a cable box and receiver which all have different settings and outputs and buttons. Naturally every "universal remote" that I... Read full review »
