Poor implementation of a Bluetooth wireless mouse

Pros Comfortable. Handles and feels good. MouseWorks software lets you customize functions.
Cons Cannot be turned off. Constantly complains of "low battery". Poor battery life.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Use it only if you wont be traveling with it and don't mind frequently replacing batteries.
The mouse looks good, feels good, and works well as a "mouse". That's the good news. The bad news is that you cannot turn it off when necessary (other than by removing the batteries) and it "cries wolf" about the batteries being low -- even when fresh batteries were just installed.

Documentation implies that you can turn it off, but doesn't explain how. When I searched for support at Kensington's website, it offered a procedure which didn't work. I contacted Kensington and was told that this procedure (even though it's listed under the FAQ for this particular Bluetooth mouse) was really written for their non-Bluetooth wireless mouse. The Bluetooth version cannot be turned off (they assured me of this several times). It will turn itself off in "about 20 minutes" (according to their documentation) if it is not disturbed. Click the left mouse button and it will switch itself back on.

If you travel (as I do), you'll find that the mouse will constantly believe that there is motion when it is packed away in a laptop bag and, as such, will NEVER power off. If you have to fly on a plane, the mouse's Bluetooth radio will be broadcasting continuously in violation of FAA reqt's. You'll need to remove the batteries whenever you travel. For this reason, I would recommend that people who want to travel via airlines with this mouse just avoid it and buy something else.

I also noticed that shortly after installing the MouseWorks software on my computer and "pairing" the Bluetooth mouse to my laptop, that I got a "low battery" warning which MouseWorks pops up on your computer. I was sure the batteries were fresh so I ignored it. Each day, I would get this same low battery warning. The mouse doesn't provide a way to show how much battery life it thinks it has. After about 5-6 days, the batteries really did run low. I replaced them with new batteries only to get a "low battery" warning within a minute of installing them. :(

Though it requires a pair of "AA" size batteries, there's no option to put it on a charging cradle so that it's fresh. Kensington doesn't offer any form of charging cradle for the mouse (as is offered with other models of battery/wireless mice).

The MouseWorks software is nice (apart from not showing me how much battery life the mouse has). It lets you remap the mouse buttons, which can be handy. It requires the latest version of MouseWorks (v5.1) which is the only version that supports Bluetooth.
