It's cheap and not worth every penny...
Pros
Cheap, small.
Cons
Frequently won't find files, and shuts itself off when it shouldn't. Barely usable.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Barely usable, shuts itself off when it shouldn't, won't find files frequently.
I wonder if the other reviewers of this product actually used it. This thing sucks. First when you turn it on it forces you to wait something like 10 seconds staring at the Lexar logo. Then some percentage of the time it just turns itself back off. If you can actually get it turned on, then it won't find files in some circumstances, I haven't figured out exactly why, my best guess is that the directory name needs to be completely uppercase (MP3's in a directory named "aa" aren't found, but in a directory named "TESTDIR" they are). Then say you have an audio book set up in standard fashion with filenames that go in some order, like "01 Huck Finn.mp3" followed by "02 Huck Finn.mp3". Well this is apparently way too complex for this thing since it picks the chapters in random order (even though you do NOT select random ordering) and plays them totally out of sequence. I've tried many ways to get past this random ordering issue, but no luck.
Sound is ok, but if the volume goes very high you get tons of pops and clicks. However, this is fairly standard for small, cheap MP3 players.
I didn't try the USB since I'm not a glutton for punishment.
Bottom line, it's cheap and works (sometimes), but build quality is low, features are non-existent and basic functionality doesn't work as expected (or not at all in some cases).
