Does not stand the test of time.

Pros Very fast, reliable, looks nice and shiny.
Cons Very poor construction philosophy. Gets fingerprints on it.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Look in other places for a more sturdy drive. Sacrificing a little speed is better than having an expensive device crumble under normal use after a few months.
Preface: I am extremely careful about how I handle electronic devices, as I know enough about them to know what their weaknesses are. I only plugged and unplugged this device in a 90 degree angle to the socket. It was only stored in a soft place in my bag, never in a pocket, or near hard objects it could bump against, or on a lanyard around the neck. By all standards, I should have been able to subject the unit to a lot more abuse than I did.

At first glance, the device appears to be attractively made, and of solid construction. Unfortunately, it is not. The metal surface is not of the same structure as the internals, and worse, is not securely attached to it. Over time, the plastic housing inside the metal case will work itself loose, simply by tasking it via normal insertion and removal from a USB socket. Simply picking up the unit out of my bag causes it to rattle -- that is now loose it is.

The second, less major design flaw is the cap. I am not sure what convinced them to use a different method of securing the cap than what they have done in the past. Instead of using a friction gradient, there are small plastic tabs which snap into other plastic tabs to hold the cap in place. The geniuses at Lexar would need only to examine the metal clothing snap to find a better method, but instead of they went with soft plastic! When I first used the device, the cap was actually very difficult to take off, which is a bad sign. That means that the only way it is coming off or going on is by over-stressing the plastic connectors. Now, a month later, the cap is useless. Holding the unit upside down is enough to dislodge it. I have to wrap it in rubberbands to keep it intact. So much for attractive styling.

It's a shame they took such shortcuts with the physical construction, because otherwise, it is a wonderful flash device. It is extremely speedy! I've never had any kind of file glitch problems like I have had with some other thumb drives. The activity light is nicely placed and informative.

All of that is useless if the thing falls apart, though. Given the price, I would avoid buying this one.
