NCAA 06: Football for Xbox

This is the first year in which EA's NCAA Football's only competition was the EA's NFL Madden.

First, I will start off with the positive about this game. It is a fun game to play. The actual gameplay of the game is fantastic. It's slower paced then Madden which is important for the running part of the game. It becomes more realistic for runningbacks to have to hesistate and wait for holes to develope due to the strength of the offensive lineman. The dynasty mode is the deepest one to date. The recruiting is entertaining, and challenging which is important for a successful dynasty.

The main new feature on this was the "Race For Heisman" mode. This mode allows you to create yourself after doing some drill. This drill determines your attributes. The created players are very generic, and it's not personal. For example, if you choose to become a Wide Receiver, and you do well in the drill, you will have the same attributes. as everyone else who did well. Despite the fact that, you may want to be a speedy wide receiver, or an athetlic wide receiver. The feature is pretty boring though. The living idea is dull. As you get better, you get a better living space. From Dorm to apartment and eventually living in a mansion. Unfortunately, all we get to see is a different background. The games are played as normal games. This is annyoing because if you are a runningback, you still control the quarterback as if it was a normal game. In addition, you still have to control the defensive side. It automatically loses its authenticity. The only cool thing about this feature, is after you choose to graduate from college ( if you're good you can leave as a junior) you enter the NFL Draft ( you must own madden).

This is the first year, the idea was implemented into the game. I expect this feature to become more in depth over the years of the game.

This game is fun with the dynasty, but it lacks something extra to make it a very good game. It is the best NCAA football game out (as it is the only recent one) and is a fun game to play.
