Nintendo's Other, Other "Princess" - Metroid: Other M

byRock_On Aug 10, 2011

Pros very cinematic, fun boss battles, cool power ups
Cons camera sucks, first-person mode lockdown, underwhelming level design
Recommended it? Yes

My first experience with cosmic bounty hunter Samus Aran didn't happen until Metroid Prime came out on the Gamecube.  The original Metroid came out in 1986, the same year I was born, and even when I owned an NES when I was younger I only played a few games, two of them continuously.  With... The M is for Mediocre.

Pros Some interesting plot developments, solid boss battles, some good action
Cons Awkward controls, mischaracterization of Samus, the least "Metroid" game in the...

I have always loved Metroid, ever since my first steps into the sprawling 8-bit caverns of Zebes as a child.  Super Metroid is universally regarded as a genre-defining classic, and I still believe Metroid Prime to be the best video game ever made.  Fear, isolation, and discovery have... Pros Great graphics, fast paced action, interesting story line
Cons Bad level design, underwhelming voice acting, lack of exploration

When Nintendo announced that Team Ninja would be handling the next Metroid title, fans were skeptical.  And for good reasons.  Team Ninja has been known for non stop action adventure games with flashy moves and lots o' blood.  Which is as far from Metroid as you can get!  But... Read full review »

Metroid: Other M - M Other

Pros Fast-paced action, Intuitive story, Diverse areas and enemies
Cons Control can be clunky, Below average voice acting, Adam freaking Malchovich
Recommended it? Yes

I can't help but feel this game gets no respect(insert obvious Rodney Dangerfield).  It was highly anticipated and sought after.  But for many Metroid fans it simply wasn't what they were hoping for in the end.  I find it can be extremely fun yet like all games has its flaws.

Metroid: Other M - Nintendo Wii Review

bychalgyr Apr 17, 2011
18 Helpfuls 19 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Excellent graphics, music and sound.  Interesting control scheme
Cons Occassionally frustrating puzzles, no online/leaderboard, limited replay value
Recommended it? Yes

I have always been a bit 'late' to the Metroid games. I didn't play the first one for the NES until the 'surprise' that Samus was a female was old news by a year or two. I never completed the SNES or Gameboy versions, playing them at friends' houses but never getting my own copies. I thought... Read full review »

Cons far from the best (super metroid)

I order Metroid the other M off of Amazon because I got a 20 dollar off coupon and that seemed like a great deal. Unfortunately I choose the cheap shipping and it didn't get to my house until a day after Kingdom hearts Birth By Sleep was released, and since KH is my favorite game series I... Read full review »

The "Other M" is for Mediocre. Nah it's okay.

Pros Action-oriented gameplay
Cons Silly obstacles, graphics in-game aren't that hot
Recommended it? Yes

Metroid fans were genuinely spoiled with the Prime Trilogy on the gamecube and Wii. Three of the most fun games ever made, each taking ten to twenty hours to complete. The only real complaint you could make about that game was backtracking, and maybe the fact that Metroid isn't designed to be a... Read full review »

Has anyone ever had a friend that everyone hated, but you still thought was cool? You saw little to nothing wrong with him/her, but still people seem to despise this kid. You put your social status, integrity, and chances of getting a girl at the prom (that's the censored version) on the line just... Read full review »
