This posthumous work brings together the many autobiographical writings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., into a single volume. Drawn from King's vast legacy, including his papers, which reside at Stanford University, it was prepared at the behest of the King family, who selected the esteemed historian Clayborne Carson to select and edit a diverse array of material into a finished work. Drawn from published and unpublished writings, as well as film and tapes, these excerpts tell the story of King's life as he saw it, showing how he shaped his vision of social justice into action that changed America. They include a revealing essay that King wrote as a youth, as well as pieces on his days at Morehouse College, Crozer Theological Seminary, and Boston University, all places where he developed and refined his thinking.
