Monty Python Turned Me Into a Newt...But I Got Better
[Note: For best results, read this review aloud, using a clipped British accent. If you?re a female, put a slovenly growl around the edges; if you?re male, go up to a quavering, Julia Child falsetto.]
[Oh, and one more thing: Flap your arms like a swallow.]

Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Ni!
Once in a lifetime a movie comes along that is unparalleled in it's genre. Monty Python and the Holy Grail is just such an endeavor. Nothing that came before it can hope to compare, nor anything since. This movie spurned sooo many catch phrases, phrases to which the mere allusion will bring folks... Read full review »
Comedy classic becomes a digital masterpiece. (Ni!)
Way back when I first started writing movie reviews, Monty Python and the Holy Grail was a film I always intended to review. For some reason or another, I went back and reviewed old favorites like Alien and 1941 (No giggling!) yet I never got around to doing this one.
And that's tragic,...

RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY!
Among all the comedy that I have seen during my life, British comedy has stood out more than any other humor. This might be due to the fact that I attend a British school, and that it might be commonplace around the school. Or perhaps it might be the fact that I have a strange sense of humor... "WHAT? THE CURTAINS?"
Monty Python has done it again! His zany, slap-stick, British sense of humor goes beyond comprehension into the land of the mundane. This picture is not to be understood. It was made to make you laugh. It succeeds in its goal.
Many pictures have been made mentioning King Arthur's quest...

She turned me into a newt... I got better!
This is one of those classic comedies that will never be out-dated. The Monty Python team make another absolute classic.
Anyone who has not seen a Monty Python film does not know what they are missing out on... this is probably the best of the three. The humour is constant...

'TIS BUT A SCRATCH..."
AS quoted from the black knight blocking Arthur's passage, after having his left arm hacked off! Whether it is the grossly visual slapstick comedy of the "swordplay", the silliness of the Knights of Camelot clopping around banging coconuts to simulate the steeds they do not ride, or the verbal... I'M NOT QUITE DEAD YET!
So this morning I (some call me... Tim?) was lying in bed at home (the strongest castle in these islands... it's only a model... SHH!), and my wife (foul temptress, always setting alight the grail-shaped beacon) said, "you have to get up, (let me face a just a little more peril... we must inspect... Read full review »

Sealed Dvd Monty Python And The Holy Grail 2 Disc Special Edition
This classic Monty Python comedy, directed by Pythons Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones, is a hilarious send-up of the grim circumstances of the Middle Ages as told through the story of King Arthur and framed by a modern-day murder investigation. When the mythical king of the Britons leads his knights on a quest for the Holy Grail, they face a wide array of horrors, including a persistent Black Knight, a three-headed giant, a cadre of shrubbery- challenged knights, the perilous Castle Anthrax, a killer rabbit, a house of virgins, and a handful of rude Frenchmen. In addition to the set pieces, the film also includes the same kind of surreal animation that Gilliam contributed to the television series. Throughout the irreverent adventures, the Python crew eschews realism in favor of anachronistic social satire, a recipe it later returned to in the 1979 biblical farce MONTY PYTHON'S LIFE OF BRIAN. Melding the ridiculous with the sublime, the film quickly inspired a cult following, generated a host of quotes, and even

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (Widescreen Edition) [VHS]
Could this be the funniest movie ever made? By any rational measure of comedy, this medieval romp from the Monty Python troupe certainly belongs on the short list of candidates. According to Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide, it's "recommended for fans only," but we say hogwash to that--you could be a complete newcomer to the Python phenomenon and still find this send-up of the Arthurian legend to be wet-your-pants hilarious. It's basically a series of sketches woven together as King Arthur's quest for the Holy Grail, with Graham Chapman as the King, Terry Gilliam as his simpleton sidekick Patsy, and the rest of the Python gang filling out a variety of outrageous roles. The comedy highlights are too numerous to mention, but once you've seen Arthur's outrageously bloody encounter with the ominous Black Knight (John Cleese), you'll know that nothing's sacred in the Python school of comedy. From holy hand grenades to killer bunnies to the absurdity of the three-headed knights who say "Ni--!," this is the kind of movie that will strike you as fantastically funny or just plain silly, but why stop there? It's all over the map, and the pace lags a bit here and there, but for every throwaway gag the Pythons have invented, there's a bit of subtle business or grand-scale insanity that's utterly inspired. The sum of this madness is a movie that's beloved by anyone with a pulse and an irreverent sense of humor. If this movie doesn't make you laugh, you're almost certainly dead. --Jeff Shannon
