Throwing a Casino Party

Parties take you away from where you are and bring you to where you want to be. While music, food, and drinks are all pillars of a great party, an exciting theme can allow you to put on a new persona and enter a whole new world. Casino is a great party theme because it allows the women to dress up, the men to show off their card skills, and everyone to get to know each other. Once the cards start flipping and the bets start rising, your guests won't want to leave. Request that your guests dress up- little black dresses, high heels, dinner jackets and ties- dim the lights, and set up a fancy bar with hors d'oevres and drinks to get the mood going. The following products will help you fully develop a casino atmosphere, one that no one in attendence will forget.

Tablecloths

Casino parties should be classy. Foldable tables are not classy. Dress up your room (and protect your furniture) with silver or green plastic tablecloths. These tableclothes will hide the day-to-day utilitarian in your tables and aid the casino atmosphere.

For the love of money

Fake money is an absolute necessity for a casino party. Scatter normal-sized fake bills across the tables, so people can pick them up and use them in games, and then tape oversized 100 dollar bills to the walls as decorations. Huge fake bills can also be used as prizes for game winners. Depending on how organized your casino party is, if you'd like people to focus on game playing you can hand out a certain amount of bills to each person as they enter, which they can then use to gamble throughout the night.

Gold

Coins are fun to lay out on the tables, although if your party involves small children, beware- they could try to eat the coins, or at the very least throw them at each other.

The entrance

Bring your guests into a whole new world with a sparkly silver doorway curtain. Especially if you're hosting your party in only one room out of a whole house, the curtain serves to seperate the party from the outside world, and helps introduct people to the atmosphere of the night.

Champagne glasses- or, sparkling apple cider glasses for underage guests- add glamor to the party. Go for plastic or glass depending on your budget- I believe Ikea sells some 99 cent glass champagne glasses, for budget saving and sophistication.

A nice poker set will encourage game playing and mingling- cards are a great way for your guests to get to know each other and friendly competition always helps to pump up enthusiasm levels at the party.

Getting cute markers for wine and champagne glasses is a nice way for people to be able to show off their personalities as well as keep track of their drinks. Way classier than sharpies and red cups!

Basically, anything dollar sign is great for novelty prizes. Big gold dollar signs can also add to the decorations.
