It's hard to deny the appeal of Hitman: Codename 47 . What action fan hasn't wanted to slip into the suit of a diamond-hard assassin-for-hire equally adept at both stealthy hits and all-out assaults? Hitman certainly provides you with the tools of the trade, offering everything from piano wire and silenced pistols to bull-pup submachine guns and predator-style miniguns. It also lets you perform many of the tricks of the trade, like stealing your enemy's clothes and dragging bodies away so roving patrols won't stumble onto them and get curious. Unfortunately, heavily scripted level design and some fairly dumb enemies get in the way of the fun, forcing players to rely more on memorization than quick reactions. Be prepared to play each level several times just to figure out exactly how to accomplish your objectives, and several times after that to successfully carry them out. At least there was a lot to look at as we repeated each level. Hitman has some of the most beautiful graphics ever placed Less

The defeat of the Covenant in the first Halo game was only a temporary victory, as the alien attackers have renewed their mission to wipe out all of humanity. Despite the human military force's and Master Chief's efforts, the Covenant have breeched the Earth's defenses and have left its inhabitants in a dismal situation. In the midst of desperation, players assume the role of Master Chief and lead the resistance against the Covenant to save the people of Earth from a gruesome demise. The long-awaited PC version of Bungie's FPS, Halo 2 offers the full single-player campaign and multiplayer maps of the original Xbox version, with the addition of the content in the Multiplayer Map Pack as well as a tool for building and customizing levels. The game requires Windows Vista. Less

I'm in the midst of what I like to call "too much game" syndrome. Thanksgiving weekend, I was kicking back the day after prepping a huge turkey, and all the other stuff, watching Junkyard Wars and playing FF9.

Then my pal Nobby swings by and drops of the game that would divide up my... Read full review »

This game can be considered training software to be a hired killer. This isn't a parental warning, this is a compliment. Playing this game can actually teach you about how various assault weapons work, about lining up a sniping rifle, and various techniques to infiltrate the enemy like switching... Read full review »

Halo 2: Like old coffee ... simply stale

Pros Finally available for PC, new map editor
Cons Low quality graphics, plain dumb AI, repetitive gameplay, price, Vista only
Recommended it? No

Microsoft has been controversial, yet successful, in the release of two extremely hyped products: Windows Vista and the Halo franchise (created by Bungie). With the PC version of Halo 2 they're joined at the hip and despite the clear marketing purpose (rather than technology), it still turned out... Read full review »
