In the beginning, navigating these areas requires you to jump from platform to platform (down and up are defined by you by the way, not by any ground-based constant), avoid spikes, and other simple tasks, while later on, heated squares, icy patches, and rolling columns are introduced to further vex you. After picking a character, you will have to arrange blocks in a bin such that like-colored blocks form rectangles and squares of at least four blocks. Eventually, a crash crystal will drop allowing you to eliminate some of the crystals. If you plan ahead, you can create chain reactions that will make your life a lot easier.
